(Abstracted from Int Urogynecol J 2018;29:789–793)Synthetic midurethral slings (MUSs) have been the most prevalent surgical intervention for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence. However, their use for stress urinary incontinence has deceased in recent years, most likely the result of concerns over the safety of mesh implants by the US Food and Drug Administration, as well as a large number of class-action lawsuits.
