Abstract

It is important to avoid overhydration during the first three days following an uncomplicated head injury. Fluid intake should be limited to 1500 cc, of which 500 cc are normal saline. After the first three days, water intake can be increased to 2500 cc of which 1000 cc may be normal saline.
