Abstract

Blood pressure monitoring

Hypertension is the most common chronic disorder seen in primary care and is a major risk factor for heart disease and stroke, so accurate and prompt diagnosis is crucial for effective treatment. Recent research on ambulatory monitoring has led to new National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines on the management of hypertension (NICE 2011). This review looks at two papers on ambulatory diagnosis of hypertension.
