The theme for 18th Annual European Congress of the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research [ISPOR; Milan, Italy; November 2015] was 'Impacting Health Decision Making with Outcomes Research: Closing the Gap'. It was centered on using outcomes assessments for decision-making on health technology including drugs, medical devices and diagnostics, with discussions by Health Technology Assessment (HTA) leaders, regulatory leaders, representatives of patient groups and the pharmaceutical industry, as well as key decision-makers. The European Commission's HTA network plans following the successful EUnetHTA (European network for Health Technology Assessment) programme, and the SEED (Shaping European Early Dialogues) project and multi-HTA Early Dialogues (ED) were discussed. Several other presentations at the Congress provided further insights into the implementation of EDs in European countries.
