Abstract

Responds to the commentary by J. Perry (see record 2001-00241-004) who criticized the inclusion of the article “Knowledge of and Compliance with Privileged Communication and Child-Abuse-reporting Laws” in the Professional Psychology journal. Grisso takes responsibility for examining independent reviews of the manuscript written by J. Swoboda et al (see record 1980-24066-001) and deciding on its appropriateness for inclusion in the special issue of Professional Psychology. The main complaint is that the evidence was not strong enough to warrant the risk of possible negative influence of the published article upon the public's view of psychology as a profession. In response, Grisso offers the points relevant to his decision to include the article in the special journal issue. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
