Abstract

This article identifies the need for a conceptual and practical model for conducting psychological assessments for competency and capacity in the older adult as part of a legal determination of competency. The role of practice guidelines in responding to this need is discussed, and a practice guideline is described to assist practitioners in responding to requests for such assessments.
