Originally published in Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books, 1978, Vol 23(10), 751–752. Reviews the book, What You (Still) Don't Know About Male Sexuality by Barry McCarthy (1977). McCarthy has covered a wide range of extremely interesting and relevant topics including VD, masturbation, extramarital affairs, homosexuality, and sexual dysfunction. The 22 chapters in the book are well written and engaging, and, for the most part, present sound advice to the well-educated layperson. A lower-middle-class person with a limited educational background may have some difficulty in comprehending and appreciating the challenge to sexual stereotype thinking presented in the book. The book is not intended to supplement the professional therapist's knowledge, although selected chapters could be used by a therapist as educational handouts for clients. Male sexual behavior is explored, weaknesses exposed, and areas for problems discussed. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
