Originally published in Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books, 1978, Vol 23(11), 827–828. Reviews the book, The Development of Visual Perception by Richard R. Rosinski (see record 1978-05427-000). With this book, Rosinski has provided an interesting modern text on the development of classical aspects of visual perception. Writing from a Gibsonian orientation, he summarizes much of what we know concerning the emergence of perceptual abilities-pattern and form, three dimensionality, visual-motor coordination, pictures and symbols-in infants and children. The book is well worth reading for persons interested in perception, visual development, arid general questions of the paradigms of developmental research.
