Originally published in Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books, 1978, Vol 23(11), 893–895. Reviews the book, Nonverbal Behavior and Communication edited by Aron W. Siegman and Stanley Feldstein (1978). This book is a generally successful attempt to present the current state of research in nonverbal communication. Some omissions and idiosyncratic inclusions do mar the general excellence of the collection, however. The papers themselves are not connected to each other, but separately many do give excellent coverage of their respective fields. Taking the volume on its own terms, as a series of generally well-done chapters, the reader will find this a valuable resource book for the field.
