Abstract

Originally published in Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books, 1978, Vol 23(11), 953–954. Reviews the book, Using Tests and Other Information in Counseling: A Decision Model for Practitioners by James M. Schuerger and David G. Watterson (1977). The stated purpose of the book is to look at the decision-making process in the context of a model that may be used to clarify and organize information in the counseling task. The authors present a specific model that is practical and useful in organizing a variety of different kinds of information. The book seems to be most functional for those interested in a rational and logical approach to the decision-making process. No attempt is made to integrate the decision model with career development theory. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
