Abstract

Originally published in Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books, 1978, Vol 23(12), 1019. Reviews the book, The Shanor Study: The Sexual Sensitivity of the American Male by Karen Shanor (1978). This book is based on the author's accumulation of 4,062 completed questionnaires and 70 personal interviews with men across the United States. Rather than being a statistical report and analysis of these data, this book consists of the author's interpretations and conclusions on a number of topics–orgasm, masturbation, fantasy, and so forth. Other chapters describe what the author considers typical of various life periods. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
