Abstract

Originally published in Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books, 1979, Vol 24(1), 76. Reviews the book, Chronic hemodialysis as a way of life by J. W. Czaczkes and A. Kaplan Denour (see record 1980-03847-000). This book reviews the biology and the history of hemodialysis and then considers what it calls the “psychiatric aspects” of the process. It covers a wide array of issues, but suffers badly from a failure to consider whether behavioral science might exist beyond the boundaries of psychiatry.
