Abstract

Originally published in Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books, 1979, Vol 24(1), 77–78. Reviews the book, Nexus psychotherapy: Between humanism and behaviorism by Kenneth Urial Gutsch and Jacob Virgil Ritenour, II (see record 1979-29016-000). This book presents a theoretical framework that is supposed to create a link (“nexus”) between humanism and behaviorism. Three case histories presented in the book focus heavily on the client's childhood experiences, and little attention is paid to current reinforcers.
