Abstract

Originally published in Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books, 1979, Vol 24(2), 144. Ernst L. Moerk responds to M. M. Rodgon's review (see record 2006-06398-010) of Moerk's book, Pragmatic and Semantic Aspects of Early Language Development (see record 1978-09674-000). Rodgon mentions as her main criticism that there is no empirical evidence presented, and no theoretical justification for assigning percentages to the amount of communication accomplished via nonverbal and verbal channels of communication. Moerk states that the curious reader may want to consider the entire paragraph to evaluate whether or not he has expressed his intention clearly or whether it has been misinterpreted. Otherwise, the reviewer thanks Moerk's for an objective rendition of his intents and emphases. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
