Abstract

Originally published in Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books, 1979, Vol 24(3), 266–267. Reviews the book, The pregnancy experience: A psychological guide for expectant parents by Elizabeth M. Whelan (1978). In this book, the author writes about her experience culled from the professional literature and from interviews with more than 250 other couples. Each chapter is divided into “psychological” and “physical” sections with the latter discussing only those aspects related to expectant parents' anxieties. This is a good resource for career-oriented couples contemplating or planning parenthood. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
