Originally published in Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books, 1979, Vol 24(4), 314–315. Reviews the book, Asymmetrical Function of the Brain edited by Marcel Kinsbourne (see record 1979-33048-000). This book is the latest of several edited volumes dealing with various aspects of complementary specialization of the cerebral hemispheres. This book as a whole is flanked with introductory and concluding comments by the author. The book covers a wide range of topics related to lateralization, it suffers from a lack of sufficient balance and integration. A far more serious problem is that some of the chapters in the book are almost 10 years out of date. This reviewer has eagerly awaited publication of the present volume since she was a student, having seen references to it as in press in the early 1970s. Some of the chapters in the book have been updated or are second generation contributions, but others are presented as they were submitted originally.
