Abstract

Originally published in Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books, 1979, Vol 24(4), 341. Reviews the book, Understanding and Conducting Research/Applications in Education and the Behavioral Sciences by Emanuel J. Mason and William J. Bramble (1978). This book tells graduate students in schools of education and other professional schools about what research is and how it is conducted. The coverage is adequate and students will learn enough research design to begin their degree-required research. In general, the pedagogy is good. The style is skillful. The research process as portrayed in texts on educational research does not support intellectual analysis of the question under study. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
