Abstract

Originally published in Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books, 1979, Vol 24(4), 343. Reviews the book, The scientific evaluation of Freud's theories and therapy: A book of readings edited by Seymour Fisher and Roger P. Greenberg (1978). This book contains approximately 40 papers organized into seven sections. The selections are quite reasonable and, as a whole, they provide convincing evidence of the difficulty of doing research that meets reasonable scientific standards and at the same time is directly relevant to psychoanalytic theory.
