Originally published in Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books, 1979, Vol 24(6), 471–472. Reviews the book, Humanistic Psychology by John B. P. Shaffer (1978). This book is one in the Foundations of Modern Psychology series. It's major role will probably be as a supplementary reader, tracing the history of humanistic psychology and giving several examples of this so-called movement in modern psychology. The author does a good job of trying to pull the many sides of this disjointed movement together. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
