Originally published in Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books, 1979, Vol 24(6), 506–507. Reviews the book, Hormones and Aggression, Vol. 1, 1977 by Paul F. Brain (1977). This is the first book in a proposed series of annual reviews on hormones and aggression. The book does indeed provide an extensive bibliography on hormones and aggression. There are some omissions, but they seem to be few. A drawback of the book is that it reads much like an annotated bibliography. The book leaves one with the impression that the field of hormones and aggression is a bewildering array of data lacking a cohesive framework for interpretation. I think that this book will be most useful as a reference source. At the same time, the book also contain some unfortunate errors. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
