Abstract

Originally published in Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books, 1979, Vol 24(6), 532. Reviews the book, Visual psychophysics and physiology: A volume dedicated to Lorrin Riggs by John C. Armington, John Krauskopf, and B. R. Wooten (Eds.) (1978). The past half century has witnessed an extraordinary proliferation of information about the form and function of the visual system. No single individual has contributed more to this desirable state of affairs than Lorrin Riggs. These are collected in the present volume under the general headings of physiological mechanisms, sensitivity and adaptation, color vision, acuity, contrast and movement, and applied topics. The publication of this volume makes available to all some of the unique attributes of the Riggs academic family. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
