Abstract

Originally published in Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books, 1979, Vol 24(6), 536. Reviews the book, Psychological statistics: A case approach by Carl Auerbach and Joseph L. Zinnes (1978). The authors of this book followed the creative plan of introducing statistical technique covered therein by describing its application in the analysis of two reference studies–one on the effect of a drug on pain and one on the effectiveness of mental health therapy. Another novel feature of the book is the inclusion of several verbal profiles of famous statisticians. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
