Abstract

Originally published in Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books, 1979, Vol 24(6), 537. Comments on Elanna S. Yalow's review (see record 2006-06389-019) of the book, Educational Psychology: A Cognitive View, 2nd ed by David P. Ausubel, Joseph D. Novak, and Helen Hanesian (1978). The current author maintains that the review does a disservice to readers who may have the most to profit from this book. The intent of the authors is to deal with meaningful reception learning and the acquisition of conceptual information. This book is not a hodgepodge of tricks for the classroom, nor is it a summary of educational bandwagons. This text comprises a challenge for the serious scholar and teacher who wish to facilitate meaningful learning in our educational systems.
