Abstract

Originally published in Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books, 1979, Vol 24(7), 597. Reviews the book, Classical conditioning and operant conditioning: A response pattern analysis by Wendon W. Henton and Iver H. Iversen (1978). This is a book of argument and experiment. The authors argue against the use of behavior as a measure of anything else and for the study of behavior in its own right. The variables that can change behavior and the methods by which the variables act are the familiar ones of classical and operant conditioning. Complexities are explained as interactions among responses. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
