Originally published in Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books, 1979, Vol 24(7), 597–598. Reviews the book, Environment and behavior: A dynamic perspective by Charles J. Holahan (1978). This research monograph is primarily a summary of the author's research over a seven-year period, with about half of the material based on previously published research. This volume will provide students in advanced undergraduate and graduate courses in either the social sciences or environmental design fields with useful insights into a problem/setting oriented approach and the use of diverse methodologies for understanding environment and behavior phenomena. However if one is looking for a strong theoretical framework or introduction to the spectrum of research in the field as a whole, this book will not suffice, nor was it intended to do so.
