Abstract

Originally published in Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books, 1979, Vol 24(7), 599–600. Reviews the book, Visual learning, thinking, and communication by Bikkar S. Randhawa and William E. Coffman (Eds.) (1978). The only valuable feature of this book is a lengthy chapter by Roger N. Shepard in which he reviews his important work on the externalization of mental images. However, this work is so very well known that most interested people really do not need the overview available here The other chapters would simply fill our ever-decreasing shelf space. The goal of this book is to explore what is now known about image processing. In this the book is highly unsuccessful. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
