Abstract

Originally published in Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books, 1979, Vol 24(8), 646–647. Reviews the books, Kursus der Sozialpsychologie. Teil I: Theorie, empirische Forschung und Praxis Soziale Urteilsbildung und soziale Motivation edited by Martin Irle (1978); and Kursus der Sozialpsychologie. Teil II: Sozialisation, soziale Attituden und soziale Interaktionen edited by Martin Irle (1978); and Kursus der Sozialpsychologie. Teil III: Angewandte sozialpsychologische Forschung und ethische Probleme der Anwendung Literatur und Register edited by Martin Irle (1978). The three volumes of Kursus der Sozialpsychologie comprise a textreader that is intended to serve as a suppler, ment to a general textbook or lecture series on introductory social psychology at the college level. The body of the volumes is composed of 26 recent articles written by German social psychologists and originally published in European journals. Indeed, Irle's essays provide a stimulating and informative discussion of many contemporary topics in social psychology regardless of whether one reads the accompanying articles. Taken together with the articles, they offer a tour of modern German social psychology that is well worth the trip. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
