Originally published in Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books, 1979, Vol 24(9), 720. Reviews the book, Piaget's theory of intellectual development. 2nd ed by Herbert Ginsburg and Sylvia Opper (1979). The author's introduction to Piaget is excellent. It remains a lucid summary of basic Piagetian theory and findings. Much of the book is similar or identical to the first edition. The major change is the addition of brief treatments of some new topics. A discussion of genetic epistemology has been replaced by a discussion of issues in development, learning, and implications for education.
