Abstract

Originally published in Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books, 1994, Vol 39(1), 97. Reviews the book, Assasins of Memory: Essays on the Denial of the Holocaust by Pierre Vidal-Naquet (1992). Here is the voice of a historian who responds to the arguments of the revisionists (Faurisson, Butzz, and Rassinier) in an attempt to examine their methods and show them to be false. He not only investigates their preoccupation with refuting the Holocaust, but he also discusses revisionist accounts throughout recorded history, the rewriting of historical facts into what often becomes a national or global fiction.
