Reviews the book, Psychobiology and Treatment of Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa edited by Katherine A. Halmi (1992). This book is an excellent attempt by an outstanding investigator and clinician to sort out the many conflicting etiologic, diagnostic, and treatment dimensions of anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. By securing the scientific and clinical talents of some of the more outstanding national and international investigators and clinicians in the field, the editor has been able to assemble a series of excellent reviews that present and critique each of the more relevant dimensions of these two complex and historically mystifying disorders. The editor and the authors are to be congratulated for presenting and critiquing some of the major issues in anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. It will be an important contribution to the field and to the clinicians, investigators, and graduate students in their work. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
