Abstract

Originally published in Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books, 1994, Vol 39(2), 228. Reviews the book, Group Counseling and Psychotherapy with Adolescents (2nd ed.) by Beryce W. MacLennan and Kathryn R. Dies (1992). Adolescence continues to be a primary national focus Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), drug abuse, alcoholism, violence, and suicide are issues of profound concern, and adolescents are viewed as highly vulnerable to these problems. MacLennan and Dies proffer group counseling and psychotherapy as a mechanism for reaching adolescents in their struggle with developmental change and environmental dangers.
