Originally published in Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books, 1998, Vol 43(4), 256-258. The reviewer states that the first section of the book (see record 1996-98242-000), which focuses on issues of sex, power, and conflict, is titled Evolutionary Perspectives, and the second is titled Feminist Perspectives. The chapters in these sections present their own tried and true arguments with an occasional attempt to address the other perspective. Because these different perspectives adopt radically different assumptions about human behavior, there is little in these two sections that lead toward dialogue or integration. The last section, Integrating Evolutionary and Feminist Perspectives, is more enlightening to the reader interested in both views. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
