Abstract

Originally published in Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books, 1998, Vol 43(4), 297-298. The reviewer states that this book (see record 1996-98378-000) looks critically at the psychology of deafness. Psychologists may be distressed, but not surprised, to find the authors attacking psychometrics as presently applied to people who are deaf. In conclusion the reviewer states that there are many other texts that discuss aspects of deafness, however, he promises psychologists that traveling with these authors will be a journey they will not regret having made. They will enjoy stimulating companionship and profit from the new vistas the book reveals. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
