Reviews the book, Assessing Organizational Performance in Higher Education by Barbara A. Miller (see record 2006-20643-000). Focusing on assessment from the point of view of both assessors and assessment users (those who have an interest in the results), Miller provides overviews, examples, and tools to help administrators in higher education figure out what, when, and how to assess performance in higher education. This book adds value by doing the following: (a) providing an overarching framework, (b) taking a systems approach, and (c) providing practical worksheets and examples to guide application. Although the book has some possible limitations for its readers (which are discussed as well), overall it provides a useful framework for considering assessment issues.
