This brief article describes the process used by a mental health case management program in Toronto, Canada, to involve consumers in training staff members to more effectively address partnership issues with clients. Using information gathered from several clients of the service and from the case managers, a mental health consumer trainer led an in-depth discussion with staff members on the situations and variables that impact on partnership. The effect of this seminar on the practice of the staff several months later is described.
