In the preceding issue of this journal, Harold Yuker raised a number of points about a series of studies on children's values in regard to disabilities—a series that my colleagues and I carried out over the past 20 years. In order to respond to Yuker, I first review the studies, showing the different conceptual lines of thought that underlay the work. I then respond to the useful and provocative issues raised by Yuker.
