Abstract

Adult Cousins of Alcoholics (ACousAs) are identified as a group at risk, showing a syndrome of characteristics similar to those of Adult Children of Alcoholics. Because they are further removed from the alcoholic in the family system, however, they show much greater denial of their illness. A plea is made to establish residential treatment programs for this unrecognized form of codependency.
