Intravenous thrombolysis with t‐Pa (IVT) significantly improves the functional outcome in IS; however, it does not reduce three‐month mortality.1 Few studies evaluating the effect of IVT on long‐term survival of patients with IS after 90 days do not indicate its beneficial effect on mortality either. However, the time of observation in these studies is heterogeneous and limited to 18 months.2 There is limited data on the impact of IVT on mortality after more than 18 months from the event.
