How to encourage non‐donors to be more willing to donate blood? Testing of binding communication based interventions
Despite medical advances, blood transfusion is sometimes the only way to save many people's lives. Every year, 1 million patients in France are treated by blood transfusion from almost 1·7 million donors. Owing to ageing of the population and constant demand for blood, the French National Blood Service need to recruit new donors to refresh those who are not eligible anymore (Bigot, 2007). Therefore, the implementation of effective communication interventions designed to encourage non‐donors to be more willing to donate blood represents an important public health issue.
