From Villain to Victor: Ketamine in Acute Neurologic Injury
Few drugs have consistent and reproducible benefits when treating acute neurologic injury. This infographic illustrates the pharmacologic effects of ketamine that enhance neuroprotection and promote neurocellular recovery. Currently, ketamine is considered purely investigational in the setting of neurotrauma, stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage and status epilepticus. Furthermore, ketamine may negatively impact brain development when used during neurologic injury in pediatric patients.
