Reply: Acellular Dermal Matrix–Assisted Direct-to-Implant Breast Reconstruction and Capsular Contracture
I would like to congratulate Barone, Cogliandro, and Persichetti for their letter regarding our article entitled “Acellular Dermal Matrix–Assisted Direct-to-Implant Breast Reconstruction and Capsular Contracture: A 13-Year Experience” (Plast Reconstr Surg. 2016;138:329–337).1 This is a well-constructed use of the Breast-Q in a small sampling of their patients that demonstrates good overall impressions of the direct-to-implant concept. The obvious limitation to their study is the very small study size; however, it creates the fabric for a larger and more in-depth review using this wonderful tool. I also appreciate their confirmation and validation of the technique for immediate breast reconstruction.
