Excerpt

The care of the critically injured patient requires a coordinated effort by a highly skilled team to achieve expedient hemorrhage control in order to optimize patient physiology. This occurs over a continuum that supports continued resuscitation and interventions that maintain efforts begun at the level prior. The continuum of care occurs across a dynamic environment that moves with the patient from the point of injury, through initial resuscitation in the trauma bay, to the operating room (OR) and interventional radiology (IR) suite, and on to the intensive care unit (ICU).
