Abstract

The current SEARCH Study concludes that the incidence of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes among youths in the United States increased significantly over the period 2002–2012, particularly in minority racial and ethnic groups. Environmental and behavioral factors play an important role in developing both types of diabetes.
