Pediatricians are usually the first practitioners to encounter children with congenital anomalies, neurodevelopmental disorders, or positive newborn screen results, which are major referral indications for a genetic evaluation. However, many pediatricians are uncomfortable ordering genetic testing or providing genetic counseling [1,2] and access to medical geneticist may be limited [3]. In our study, we conducted a survey of pediatric residency programme directors (PD) to gauge the effectiveness of genetics education at their respective programmes, to determine clinical settings in which genetics education is currently delivered, and to assess PD interest in increasing genetics education within the pediatrics training curriculum.
