To explain the pathophysiology of autoimmune disease, a basic understanding of the normal and dysfunctional immune system is necessary. Rheumatoid arthritis is used as a model to explain the basics of autoimmune disease. The infusion nurse plays a key role in patient education and the safe administration of biologics.
