To the Editor:
We read with keen interest the article titled “Resolution of noninfectious uveitic cystoid macular edema (CME) with topical difluprednate.” by Feiler et al.1 In their study, the authors have concluded that topical difluprednate is a well-tolerated and attractive treatment for noninfectious uveitic CME.
However, we have few comments to make:
We believe that the main lacunae of the study is that if the efficacy of difluprednate in noninfectious uveitis is to be assessed, then it should be the only drug used without concomitant use of systemic immunosuppressants or any other topical medication. In such a scenario, the true effectiveness of the drug molecule cannot be established.
