Abstract

Macrophages play important roles throughout all stages of the atherosclerotic development [1–5,6▪▪]. This bimonthly update summarizes selected recent publications that elucidate effects of macrophage efferocytosis receptor c-Mer tyrosine kinase (MerTK) [7▪▪], mitogen-activated protein kinase 8 (Map3k8) [8▪▪], or macrophage senescence [9▪▪] in the development of atherosclerosis.
