In this article, I demonstrate the scholarly potential in bringing positive youth development together with critical youth studies and multigenerational participatory action research (PAR). Through reconciling positive youth development with critical youth studies, I explore how one multigenerational PAR study used artistic embodied methodologies to collectively retheorize harmful narratives of mother-blaming and failures of youth within their data. With a focus on artistic embodied methodologies within a PAR project on youth experience of public policies, I explore how positioning young people as coproducers of research not only incorporates a positive youth development frame, but also provides an approach for reimagining adolescence with an emphasis on structural change.
