Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV), a common problem associated with general anesthesia, can add substantial morbidity to surgical procedures and impede successful discharge and recovery of patients. It is possible that midazolam, a short-acting benzodiazepine with anxiolytic qualities, can help to reduce the incidence of PONV.
