Abstract

(Abstracted from Anesth Analg, 121:925–933, 2015)

A major adverse effect of ketamine is its psychomimetic properties, which can cause prolonged psychic disturbances lasting 20 to 120 minutes after anesthesia. Ketamine analogs with rapid clearance might limit this pyschomimetic period to only a few minutes, while retaining the hypnotic characteristics of ketamine.
